Electric motor rewinding is the process of removing and replacing the copper windings inside an electric motor's stator after they've burnt out, shorted, or degraded — typically from overheating, moisture ingress, overload, or simple age. Rather than scrapping the whole unit, the housing, rotor, shaft and bearings are inspected and reused wherever they're still within tolerance, and only the winding itself, and any worn components, are replaced.
